Viper

The short version

Viper has no accounts, no ads and no third-party trackers beyond an anonymous page-view counter. Nothing you do here is tied to your identity, and nothing is sold or handed on.

The name you choose

The name you enter before a game is shown to the other players in that room. If your score reaches the top five it is saved to the public leaderboard along with the score, the date and the game mode, and it stays there until the leaderboard is reset.

Please pick a nickname rather than your real name.

Cookies and local storage

One signed session cookie _liruxir_viper_key holds a random player id, so that reloading the page puts you back into your snake, and the language you picked. It is strictly necessary for the game to work and carries no advertising or tracking identifier.

Your browser also keeps your theme and sound preferences in local storage. Those never leave your device.

What the server holds

Games live in memory only: once the last player leaves, the room and everything in it are gone. There is no database and no player profile.

Your IP address is used to rate-limit game creation and joining. It is kept only briefly and reaches the server log only when a limit is exceeded.

Your browser sends its time zone once so that dates appear in your local time. It is never stored.

Page-view counting

Page views are counted with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service. It sets no cookies, does not follow you across sites and collects no personal data: only the page address, the referring page, your browser, operating system, screen size and country.

Repeat visits are recognised through a hash of your IP address and browser that is salted afresh each day and never stored. Game codes are never sent: every room is counted under the single address /r/:room.

Who else sees any of this

Nobody. There is no advertising, no profiling and no data sold or passed to third parties. GoatCounter, described above, is the only external service involved.

Your rights

Since nothing here identifies you, there is usually nothing to look up, correct or erase. If a leaderboard entry names you and you would like it gone, write to us and we will remove it.
